Liverpool 0 – 2 Chelsea

If you’re not going to win anything, surely the next best thing is making sure others fail. I’m not sure if that’s considered playful schadenfreude or knee-shattering nihilism. But it’s definitely on show here. This result, coupled with Manchester City beating Crystal Palace meant that the Reds were only three points ahead at the top. The problem. City’s game in hand (and superior goal difference). Ultimately this was the one that caused the damage and Liverpool failed where City succeeded the following week, surrendering a 0-3 lead at Selhurst Park. Turns out they did let it slip.
