Everton 0 – 1 Manchester United

Weird to think of Everton being a favourite over Manchester United considering what has happened over the past thirty years, but welcome to the 1980s. This match had a first; Kevin Moran became the first player to ever get sent off in an FA Cup Final. Not that it mattered. Everton misfired, the match went into extra time and during the second half of that, Norman Whiteside cut in from the right and curled a peach into the bottom right hand corner of the unsighted Neville Southall’s net. Everton wouldn’t win another cup for ten years.
