Liverpool 6 – 0 Manchester City

Modern day titans, of course. But it wasn’t always that way. For Manchester City, certainly. Pre-21st century, the Sky Blues had won the league twice and the cup four times. Which is fine, but Liverpool by contrast had won…a lot more than that. And were a globally reknowned team. And so, a mid-ninties massacre ensued. The Scousers at the time seemed to have a nifty blend of old timers (John Barnes, Ian Rush) and young guns (Robbie Fowler, Jamie Redknapp, Steve McManaman) and as such you could’ve been forgiven in thinking they were on the right track to winning the league some time in the near future. They weren’t to know it would actually take another 25 years, were they?
