Everton 6 – 0 West Ham United

Back in the 1990s, this sort of result was commonplace. Which is very strange, considering that (even by their fans’ own admission) the decade wasn’t very kind to the Toffees. On paper, the Irons had a very healthy line up of future and past England internationals (Frank Lampard, Rio Fedninand and Trevor Sinclair in the former camp and Ian Wright in the latter), so you would assume they’d have made a decent fist of this one. In contrast, Everton had Craig Short and Scot Gemmill in their line up. No matter. The Hammers got hammered. Given the date, they probably had other things on their mind; ice cream, flip-flops, sangria and suchlike.
