Manchester City 3 – 2 Aston Villa

The second home comeback from 0-2 down in the same week, this time at the other end of the table. With Liverpool beating Wolves at Anfield, the title was theirs. City had to match their result, so they were quarter of an hour away from throwing it all away. While it wasn’t quite as heart stopping as the final day in 2012, it was still quite the spectacle. Billed as the league title that Steven Gerrard (Villa manager at the time) could finally help the Reds win, it was all going very well until Ilkay Gündogan came on. Yes, he scored two goals, but the low cross for the clinching goal from Kevin De Bruyne was the real star moment. Jack Grealish didn’t make it on, but he certainly had a drink afterwards.
