Denmark 0 – 1 Finland

We all know where this write up is headed, but before we get there, let’s big up Finland for a bit. This is the first time in their history that the Finns qualified for a major tournament and they got off the mark with a win straight away. Not only that, they very nearly qualified for the next round but got scuppered by the Danes smashing the Russians. Lovely stuff. What wasn’t so lovely was what happened to Christian Eriksen in the 43rd minute. I’m sure everyone is aware of that, so I won’t go into details. Shocking stuff but thankfully he survived, got himself sorted and scored within two minutes of his return to the Danish team a year later.
